Master appointed UK representative for Schmeier

Master Abrasives precision abrasive product range has recently seen the addition of Schmeier precision grinding products. Following the recent acquisition of Alfons Schmeier GmbH & Co. KG by Abraxos Holding AG, the parent company of Meister Abrasives AG, in February, Master Abrasives has been appointed the official representative for Schmeier in the UK and Ireland.

The product portfolios of Meister and Schmeier offer enormous potential for future joint innovation and, with this acquisition, the Group expands its global presence and cements its position as the world market leader in precision internal grinding. Both companies’ product ranges continue to be available in their well-known superior quality and will continue to be manufactured in the existing sites. Both brands, Meister and Schmeier, will remain and will be sold side-by-side by Master Abrasives in the UK.

The addition of Schmeier products fits well into Master Abrasives existing product portfolio of precision products, providing an extended portfolio for internal wheels and superfinishing products which uses the latest technology and offers excellent productivity. The Schmeier and Meister brands alongside a strong range of MASTER® precision abrasive products, the Micromatic brand of precision grinding machines, and Cool-Grind coolant nozzles allows Master Abrasives to offer a complete precision package.

Master Abrasives offers a comprehensive range of vitrified precision internal grinding wheels. These wheels are precision manufactured and available either with a plain bore, mounted on a spindle or a threaded shank. The company’s knowledgeable staff offer technical support through a strong team that provides solutions through an applications systems approach.

Schmeier’s product offering includes internal grinding wheels in CBN, silicon carbide, ceramic and corundum in vitrified bond, as well as tools for the super finishing process. These individual solutions and products are used worldwide from automobile to aircraft and from miniature ball bearing to turbine, and the company’s success is evident in the awards from customers such as the 2016 preferred supplier awards from Schaeffler and Bosch Group.

Customers in many advanced manufacturing sectors are using Meister and Schmeier products, including automotive, aerospace, medical and semiconductor industries. Vitrified CBN and diamond wheels are used to produce fuel systems, bearings, transmissions, pumps, marine diesel engines, gas engines, automotive diesel engines, aero engines, electronic components, machine tools, tooling components and medical implants. Meister’s latest developments have focused on the dressing tool market, with both stationary and rotary precision tools featuring hybrid bonding available and can be fully supported technically and commercially by Master Abrasives’ staff.

Master offers dressing solutions including general diamond tooling in standard shapes and designs, such as single point diamonds, fleece type diamonds, cluster tool diamonds and PCD dressing tools. It can also design and specify specially manufactured diamond dressing products to suit application requirements.

For rotary dressing the company offers the latest Meister developed product for the dressing of both superabrasive and conventional grinding wheels. The rotary dressing tool range includes vDD, hDD and cDD bonds, which offer all of the advantages of a metal bonded dresser but with the cutting ability associated with the vitrified bond system.

All these dressing tools present a fast and effective way of truing and dressing grinding wheels to ensure optimum performance when grinding.

Meister’s vitrified superabrasives products are complemented by the Master range of electroplated, resin and metal bonded wheels and tools, as well as grinding quills (in carbide or steel) and dressing spindles, all engineered to provide customers the best production economics from a range of high quality, cost-effective products.
