Amada apprentices showcase their skills

Amada PicAmada apprentices “were a credit to the company,” according to event organisers at last November’s UK skills show. Renowned as the UK’s largest exhibition dedicated to sharing career advice with young people, Amada decided to support this theme for the fifth year running.

Crowds of visitors flocked to the apprentice-run ‘Have-A-Go’ stand where eager participants got to make and take home an easy-bend jeep.

Amada supplied its largest selection of machinery to date, which included a FOII 3015 laser and two HFEII 1003/8 press brakes, for the more advanced young engineers who were partaking in the UK skills show competition. These machines were installed, prepared and demonstrated by Amada apprentices for the ‘sheet metal technology’ category.

The winners, along with those from 34 other categories, were recruited into ‘Squad UK’ and will compete in the world skills competitions held in Abu Dhabi in 2017.

Although not taking part in the competition themselves, the apprentices were responsible for the technical support of all Amada machines: as always, welcoming the opportunity to showcase their skills.
