TDT Technology names four new Italian principals

TDT ES News pageMachine tool distribution and service specialist, TDT Technology has announced that it is now the exclusive UK and Ireland agent for no less than four new principals from Italy: Fidia, IMT, OMG and Pama. The new additions to the company’s portfolio will add to the success that TDT has already achieved with the popular range of Taiwanese-built machines from Kao Fong Machinery (KAFO).

Founded in 1974, Fidia is today an established and respected manufacturer of high speed milling systems. Listed on the Milan stock exchange since 2001, the company is headquartered in Turin and has around 330 employees worldwide. TDT will offer the entire Fidia range with the exception of the company’s standard three-axis vertical machining centres.

Available from TDT will be the Fidia GTF range of 5-axis gantry machines, the Y2G series of double traverse gantry models, the K range of 5-axis high speed milling systems, the Y2K series of double productivity 5-axis milling machines, the KR series of 6-axis high speed mills, the D range of 5-axis milling machines, the G996 high performance 5-axis milling centre, and the H664 compact 5-axis machining centre.

Adding high specification boring/milling capability to TDT’s newly expanded portfolio is Pama. Operating from two production plants at Rovereto and Brescia, Pama has history dating back to 1926. The company, which offers machines with table loading capacities up to a staggering 600 tonnes, has become an established supplier to sectors such as energy, heavy machinery, yellow goods, rail, aerospace, shipbuilding and diesel, to list but a few.

TDT will offer the entire Pama range, including Speedmat boring and milling centres, Speedmat HP horizontal machining centres, Speedram floor type boring and milling machines, and Vertiram gantry type vertical machining centres.

From a turning perspective, TDT is also bringing the impressive attributes of vertical lathes manufactured by IMT to the UK market. Established in 1983, IMT Intermato has established itself as the absolute world leader in the CNC machining of aluminium wheels for the automotive market. The company’s main factory, just north of Milan, comprises more than 15,000 square metres, from where it builds a full gambit of vertical lathes for a host of different applications.

Available from TDT will be IMT’s VL range of 2-axis vertical lathes up to 1200 mm turning diameter capacity, while for larger components up to 8000 mm diameter the NTM and VBM series of hydrostatic ram machines are offered. Furthermore, for customers requiring 2- or 4-axis vertical lathes with fixed cross-rails, TDT can provide the A, S and P lines. TDT can also offer machines from SIRMU, which is part of the IMT group of companies. SIRMU products include multi-functional vertical turning machines, multi-spindle deep hole drilling machines, and special machines for rail industry applications.

Finally, bringing a selection of very heavy duty horizontal lathes to the UK market via TDT Technology is OMG Zanoletti. Founded in 1965, Brescia-based OMG offers ranges that include the CNV series of lathes with indexing chucks for the one-hit machining of valves, the MT4-H series for heavy duty multi-tasking operations, and SNC teach-in lathes.

In short, OMG provides heavy duty lathes that accommodate parts up to 2500 mm in diameter and weighing up to 50 tonnes. Machines, which are typically manufactured to meet specific customer requirements, offer distances between centres up to 12,000 mm.

All of the additions to TDT Technology’s portfolio complement the existing KAFO range of milling and turning machines, which demonstrate class leading quality-to-cost ratio for a multitude of industry sectors. In fact, newly introduced is the ‘KAFO by Force One’ series of cost effective CNC lathes and turning centres.

Ultimately, TDT Technology can now deliver proven machine tool technologies into virtually all end user applications. Enquiries are already being taken for the new principals and TDT is hoping to showcase certain machines from its expanded portfolio at the MACH 2016 exhibition from 11-16 April, where the company has already secured its largest ever stand measuring some 200 square metres (Stand 5440, Hall 5).
